Preferred program methods are different depending on the project phase:

During development phase, to test the images obtained from Build your development images process.
Also use these mechanisms if Android system is not flashed in your device or the one you have is corrupt and does not boot.

In manufacturing, to flash final images signed with release keys after Generate release custom images:

During deployment phase. Your devices in the field have Android already running. You can update them with an update package obtained from Create a signed OTA package:

Locally, from the Android settings menu, see Update Android with OTA packages.
