Itron ERTΒΆ
Important
The ERT products are end-of-life (EOL) and are no longer in production. Digi will continue to make ERT-related documentation available for existing customers.
- Encoder Receiver Transmitter (ERT) is a 900MHz wireless technology developed by Itron to read meter data from Electric, Gas, and Water meters. Some of the features include:
- Low Power - The meters typically run for 10 to 20 years on the integrated batteries.
- Long Range - The 900MHz signal can transmit through walls and can be collected by a special vehicle driving by the meter or by using fixed stations
- Mature Technology - There are tens of millions of ERT meters in the field and more deployed every day.
- Passive Reading mode - In this mode the ERT radio periodically transmits usage data (usually on the order of every couple of minutes). This is the mode supported by our ERT gateways.
- Active Reading mode - In this mode a high power signal is sent on a proprietary bandwidth to the ERT radio to initiate a meter reading. This mode is not supported by our ERT gateways.
