In response to the implementation of the new Radio Equipment Directive (RED) replacing the existing R&TTE directive, and the end of the official transition period, all Digi International products shipping to the European Union (EU) on or after June 13, 2017 will conform to RED.
Customers should begin assessing their products immediately to demonstrate RED compliance to safety, EMC and RF requirements. Be aware that any product shipped on or before June 12, 2017 will be considered in compliance, as the new directive does not go into full effect until June 12, 2017.
For the above reason, customers purchasing modules may consider placing orders now to build inventory in advance as buffer stock to avoid the possibility of increased lead times delaying shipment after the June 12, 2017 deadline. Additionally, customers purchasing finished end-products need to make sure they have product in the EU, or their EU channel, on or before the June 12, 2017 deadline.
Digi customers may leverage our Declaration of Compliance (DoC) or Notified Body (NB) Type Certificate information to demonstrate compliance to RED requirements for the individual products used.
