IPv6
Goal
- To set up IPv6 connectivity on the Ethernet WAN
- Set up an IPv6 DHCP server for client connectivity on the LAN Ethernet ports and Wi-Fi SSIDs
Setup
For this example, you need:
- IPv6 address range for the LAN network
Sample
The following diagram shows a sample setup of a Digi 6350-SR/6355-SR with an IPv6 DHCP server running on its LAN ports and WiFi, and the Digi 6350-SR/6355-SR has a DHCP IPv6 connection on its WAN Ethernet port. The Digi 6350-SR/6355-SR runs an IPv6 DHCP server to hand out IP addresses in the fd00:2704::/48 range, with a gateway IP of fd00:2704::1.
Sample configuration
Open the configuration profile for the router and make the following changes:
To enable the IPv6 DHCP server on the LAN and Wi-Fi SSIDs.
- Under Network -> IPv6, set the ULA prefix to fd00:2704::/48.
- Under Network -> Interfaces -> LAN -> IPv6, set the Interface type to IPv6 prefix delegation.
- Under Network -> Interfaces -> LAN -> IPv6, set the Prefix length to 48.
- Under Network -> Interfaces -> LAN -> IPv6, enable the DHCPv6 server.
- Optional: for complete LAN IPv6 connectivity without IPv4, uncheck Network -> Interfaces -> LAN -> IPv4 -> Enable.
To enable WAN IPv6 via DHCP.
- Under Network -> Interfaces -> WAN -> IPv6, set the Interface type to DHCPv6 address.
- Optional: for complete WAN IPv6 connectivity without IPv4, uncheck Network -> Interfaces -> WAN -> IPv4 -> Enable.
