Step 5: Explore your Yocto environment
When Yocto starts, SATO—a gnome mobile based desktop—appears on the HDMI display connected to the ConnectCore 6. SATO is a framework based on GTK+ and is intended for devices with restricted screen sizes. SATO is just one example of a user interface on top of a Linux image that was created with the Yocto Project.
SATO includes a set of applications such as games, utilities, and demos. Use the arrows located just below the top bar to navigate through the different categories. You can also open the desktop home, switch between running applications, and open a virtual keyboard.
File management
You can use the file management application File Manager PCManFM, located in the Utilities category, to manage your files graphically.
QT demos
View the QT demo applications to see potential uses for the QT framework.
Shell
The serial console port also has a shell where you can issue commands. The default login user is root.
Digi Embedded Yocto 2.2-r3 ccimx6sbc /dev/ttymxc3 ccimx6sbc login: root BusyBox v1.24.1 (2017-07-31 17:40:01 CEST) built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. root@ccimx6sbc:~#
When you're done exploring the applications contained in the Yocto image, you can customize your firmware and create your own applications.
