I cannot set year. What is the cause?

~ # date
Sat Jan 1 09:37:18 JST 2000
~ # date -s "052710452014"
date: invalid date '052710452014'
~ # date -s "05271045"
Sat May 27 10:45:00 JST 2000

I was able to set yesr.

~ # date -s "201405271045"
Tue May 27 10:45:00 JST 2014
