How many devices can a digimesh network have? (Not theoretically, in practice)

A Technical Manager from a spanish Digi's distributor noted me that, in practice, a Zigbee network which had about 800 end devices could have some problems, therefore it wouldnt be feasible although Zigbee protocol would allow, theoretically, up to 65536 devices.

I want to use Digimesh protocol due to Technical Manager's advice so I would like to know if some problems could appear in DigiMesh networks which had about 800 devices or more.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the lack of detail of the question.
