Is digimesh IP network? What's the difference between serial radios with it?

I see in the datasheet that it's still serial communication through UART. Does it mean digimesh is still serial radio? We actually want to have IP networking. Is that possible with Xbee?

DigiMesh takes data from serial UART and transmit wireless to mesh network. It uses 64bit MAC addressing and not IP.

Xbee S6B Wifi modules use IP networking and address data packets with IP and Port. It supports both UDP and TCP.
